Google Talk Labs edition launched

Google Talk Labs edition was released and it seems to offer about the same functionality of the Google Talk gadget, except that it will install and run on your computer, outside the browser. I said almost the same functionality as the Gootle Talk gadget, because the Labs Edition also shows Google Calendar appointments, Orkut scraps, Gmail messages and Google Talk chats. Nice is indeed the fact that you can snooze the calendar event, though it would be useful to choose for how many minutes to snooze the event (by default it delays the reminder for 5 minutes).

For now, the usefulness of this application is the reminders, but if these will be added directly into Google Talk (which only shows Gmail alerts, meaning snippets of emails coming in) then there's really no need of installing it too. Google Talk is the instant messenger, and if you don't want to install it you can use the instant messaging feature through the Google Talk gadget (non-labs edition). So the Labs Edition (if you don't have already headaches) is something in between that lets you bring Google Calendar into the loop.
